What does this anniversary of the March on Washington and the “I Have a Dream” speech mean for us today? Community Change Communications Fellow Ayanna Albertson did the math, and her grandmother was just about the same age during the 1963 March on Washington as she was during the 2020 protests against the murder of George Floyd.
Ayanna helps us remember a little bit about what life was like 60 years ago, and then talks to her Grandma Bettie to get some living history and what she remembers about life as a Black American in the south and New York City where she lived. Segregation, opportunity, and where we are now are just a few of the memories Grandma Bettie shares with Ayanna.
What will you say when you are interviewed in 60 years about the history we are living through right now?
