Growing up in the 90s, Katerina was chastised for talking about her transgender mother. But when she stumbled upon the book Luna at her public library, she finally felt less alone. It had a transgender teenager as its main character. And for that, it’s been a target of conservative, anti-LGBTQ attacks and has been subject to censorship and bans. Now, Katerina is attending school board meetings to advocate for all students.
