All children in our country should feel safe and welcomed in their school environment so they can grow into their full potential. Unfortunately, the experiences many Black girls have in American schools are pushing them out into unsafe and unstable futures. Pushout, a documentary created by Dr. Monique Morris, exposes the world of biased practices and policies that are not supporting our children. At a special screening in Boston in November, community members had the chance to watch the film, stay for a panel discussion, and talk with one another about their stories. Communications fellow Jamal Meneide got the chance to speak with Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, who was part of this event, about why this growing movement is important to her. By pulling together, we can build ways to be accountable to one another for the future of our children.
