The shadow is faint and the signature has faded through time

Injustice sails the rocky seas and the beacon light is dim

Daybreak hits and we still dream

Still not free, still not free, 60 years later and we are still not free

Discrimination still roars through our city streets

Where is our check

It has run dry, and in our debt left to lie Because promises were made but never kept

Just last week they evicted Lisa from her two-story duplex

And it continues we fall heir to years of poverty within a system that’s not keeping its word

I call it straight-up hypocrisy

The pursuit of happiness has caused us to sacrifice

We’ve lost brothers and sisters to wars we had no choice but to fight

Shake the foundation

That they call a fair nation

Where we dream until whirlwinds are made to be seen

Insufficient funds

Lead to eviction

Homelessness and prison gates it’s time for our nation to awake

The bank of justice has closed its doors

Its 2023 folks

Time for that dream to become a reality

I have a dream that people will not judge me for the color of my skin

That in the bitter cold streets of New York to the windy streets of Chicago the dreams of every child to succeed

Time for that dream to become their reality

Your promise needs to be kept

To the people of California

To the folks out West

Let freedom ring at last

Let us scream

We are free at last

We are free at last
