Kat Klawes (she/they) is an educator, advocate, and activist living in Wisconsin. Her work centers around helping others find their voice. She has worked on policy related to housing, LGBTQ+ rights, student’s rights, free speech, mental health access, healthcare, sexual assault, and many other areas.
Kat founded Survivor Shoulders, an organization led by sexual assault survivors and domestic violence survivors that works to uplift survivors’ voices and create systemic policy change. Kat has been credited as one of the youngest bill authors in the nation when she wrote a bill at age 21 in Michigan. Kat is a first-generation college graduate and has a Bachelor’s in Education from Northern Michigan University and a Master’s in Education Policy from Marquette University. She lives in Milwaukee with her partner and three cats. In her spare time, Kat enjoys kayaking, writing, and reading.
