Are you one of the many youth who is unemployed and frustrated with our nation’s high unemployment levels? If so, then this is the event for you!
The Young Invincibles, one of the projects of The Center for Community Change, is hosting an event called “Job’s for #YoungAmerica Day on the Hill” taking place on Nov. 9th from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The purpose of the event is to meet with members of Congress and their staff to tell them to take action on youth unemployment.
The Young Invincibles, along with several partner organizations, will train everyone in the morning and then do meetings with Senators and Representatives from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Afterward, there will be a press conference to talk about the importance of doing something about youth unemployment. In order to get the message to Congress it is important that they get as many people out as possible, so invite your friends, and fellow youth!
The Young Invincibles was established as an organization in the summer of 2009, out of the recognition that young people’s voices were not being heard in the debate over health care reform. The organization, as it is known today, grew from a website compilation of youth stories and is now a national organization. Through policy analysis, the sharing of stories of young Americans, and campaigns, they hope to inform and mobilize the younger generation.
