In recent weeks, the Center for Community Change has been testing our new vision for “scale with soul,” attempting to reach thousands of Americans who have not been reached before; urging organizers and active leaders to reach beyond their current base to build a powerful, authentic, bottom-up movement for social change.

With the American dream itself under assault, we are committed to launching an inclusive national movement to speak to the needs of millions of vulnerable Americans. We believe we are losing touch with the values that have built our nation—opportunity, fairness and community. In their place we have entered an era defined by a small group of “haves,” in coalition with right wing purists, decimating the  hopes of millions of “have nots.”

The mission of the Center for Community Change is to develop the power and capacity of low-income people, particularly people of color, to have a significant impact in improving their communities and the policies and institutions that affect their lives.

With this renewed focus, we are now investing in building community-organizing infrastructures in states without them to advance progressive social policy both within those states and at the national levels. We are investing in experimental ways to reach more and more people getting us to a much larger scale for our “movement-building” trainings.

CCC’s core mission has remained the same—promoting social change through community-based organizations—but the strategy for achieving the mission has gone through many iterations over the years.

With this new approach, and with your help, we know we can turn things around while there is still time.
