In October, hotel workers from across the country began a strike demanding higher wages, better healthcare, job stability and a host of other concerns. Several of them came to visit D.C., where I had the chance to sit down with them and talk with them about why they were striking and what their daily lives were like.
As of November 14, 2018, strikes in Detroit, Oakland, San Jose and San Diego have concluded with new deals for the hotel workers. Strikes in San Francisco, Maui and Boston continue as workers speak up and make their voices heard together.
