Day three of the Social Good Summit, sponsored by Mashable, 92Y and the UN Foundation, really focused in on the small steps that, when taken and aggregated, can lead to big change.

Whether its sending out your first tweet, giving a small amount of money to help kickstart social change, or telling just a minute of your own story to the world, a little can go a long way when we all do a little.

Tonight, the Center for Community Change will honor six individuals and organizations that are taking big steps towards change at the Community Change Champions Awards.  Through their work in activism, politics, and social justice, they are helping communities have a greater say in their own future.

But they all started somewhere, too.  Maybe it was with a letter, a phone call, or a discussion with friends that a small flame was lit, a flame that has for them grown into a fiery passion for social justice. We can all be champions for our own communities and in our own ways – with small actions.  Click, tweet, call, read, share, tell, vote – how can you do a little today, tomorrow, or the next day?

If we all do a little, we end up with a whole lot. And with a whole lot, we can use that power to change the policies and institutions that affect our lives – together.

Zack Langway is the Web and New Media Manager for the Center for Community Change, and has been blogging from the Social Good Summit this week in New York City.
