My love for you will never waiver,
Since becoming your mom, I have only grown braver.
You give me strength I didn’t know existed,
This was something the baby books never listed.
While all of this is true, and I love you through and through,
I have lost my own sense of value, this probably sounds taboo.
I wake up to tend to you,
Forgetting I’m important too.
I hide these feelings for fear of discrimination,
Not realizing that many are in this situation.
Becoming a mom is a special thing,
but we often ignore the issues it could bring.
Sometimes we lose ourselves, and it brings traumas to the surface,
But with time and healing, we can find our purpose.
It’s crucial to care for myself too,
To show my child how to value themselves true.
Motherhood is a journey of highs and lows,
But self-love is essential as it grows.
So i’ll learn to embrace my own needs and desires,
For in nurturing myself, a mothers love never tires.
